Lightning rookie Paul Ranger has scored more goals than Vinny Lecavalier, Vinny Prospal, Ruslan Fedotenko and Freddie Modin combined. How can that happen? Ottawa looks every bit the powerhouse.

The Tampa Tribune: Many of those buying in the community are couples who typically go in different directions for their morning commute, said Kristen Towery, sales and marketing director for developer Stonelake Ranch LLC.
The community is being developed in an area historically known as rural farming country, 15 minutes from Plant City and about a 25-minute drive from downtown Tampa, Towery said.
The location, coupled with the view of Lake Thonotosassa and the privacy, also has attracted a few celebrities — among them Tampa Bay Lightning player Ruslan Fedotenko and his wife, Debbie. The couple have purchased a lot overlooking the lake.

The Tampa Tribune: There are also questions about who will return when the team reassembles for training camp in September.
Goaltender John Grahame, who will be an unrestricted free agent, most likely will not return, leaving the Lightning with only 39-year-old Sean Burke and three 20-something goaltenders under contract.
Richards, who led the team in scoring in the regular season and the playoffs, will be a restricted free agent July 1. General Manager Jay Feaster has been committed to ensuring fans Richards will be signed to a long-term contract, but it's likely he will command between $6.5 and $7 million a season for a team with little room under the salary cap, projected to rise between $3 million and $6 million for next season.
Others questionable to return include defenseman Pavel Kubina, who will be an unrestricted free agent, and restricted free agents Ruslan Fedotenko (a 26-goal scorer with arbitration rights who made $1.3 million this season), defenseman Cory Sarich and forwards Martin Cibak and Dmitry Afanasenkov.

Courier Post: With four picks in the first two rounds of Saturday's NHL draft, the Flyers find themselves with an internal dilemma.
Do they package their first-round pick (22nd overall) and all three of their second-round picks to get a chance at defenseman Phil Kessel, who is expected to be taken by the Boston Bruins with the fifth pick overall?
Do they package some of those second-rounders with goaltender Robert Esche and send them to the Tampa Bay Lightning for winger Fredrik Modin or Ruslan Fedotenko?

The Columbus Dispatch: The Blue Jackets have been the subject of a number of rumors, including two that involve goaltender Marc Denis and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
One rumor had the Jackets trading Denis to Tampa Bay for winger Ruslan Fedotenko, goaltender John Grahame and a second-round pick.
Another rumor had the Jackets trading Denis and the No. 6 overall pick to Tampa Bay for big winger Frederik Modin and the No. 15 overall pick. Or, something like that.
On some levels, both trades make sense. On other levels, they do not.
The Lightning is in the market for a goaltender, but there are a lot of goaltenders about to hit the market.
Fedotenko or Modin would slot in nicely on a line with Sergei Fedorov and Nikolai Zherdev — but the Jackets’ asking price seems high in the Fedotenko deal, and as far as the Modin deal goes, it’s hard to imagine the Jackets trading the sixth overall pick.

«Right now we don't have anything, but at the same time even if it doesn't happen this weekend it doesn't mean we won't get something done at some point," said Lightning GM Jay Feaster. «The draft is the first opportunity once the season ends to try and get something done but it's not the only opportunity.
«I'm still optimistic that we're going to find the solution.»

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired veteran goaltender Marc Denis from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for left wing Fredrik Modin and goaltender Fredrik Norrena, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced today. Denis, 28, has spent the past seven years in the NHL, six with Columbus, and has posted a record of 94-156-28 with a goals-against average of 2.97 and a save percentage of .906. Denis was 17-61 in 2005-06 and 77-34-12 in his Blue Jackets career when the team scored three goals or more.
