The Sports Network: The Isles took the lead with a shorthanded goal by Campoli at 5:03 of the first period. After a turnover by the Devils, Ruslan Fedotenko took a shot on net that was stopped. Richard Park gathered the rebound, then dished to the left circle for Campoli, whose slap shot went up and over the shoulder of Brodeur.

When Andy Hilbert drove behind the net and passed out front to Ruslan Fedotenko for another goal over Grahame's glove for a 3-0 lead at the 5:45 mark, Carolina coach Peter Laviolette inserted Cam Ward in goal.

Newsday: Nolan benched Ruslan Fedotenko in the third period of the Islanders' 4-0 loss Monday night in Edmonton and gave linemates Josef Vasicek and Miroslav Satan scant third-period action against the Oilers. Going into the Islanders' game against Vancouver last night at GM Place, Nolan planned to team those three on a sort of «Doghouse Line.» They skated as the fourth line in warm-ups.

Fedotenko has been a disappointment. After getting off to a quick start this season, he has scored only two goals in his past 27 games. It's the same with Vasicek, who has produced just two goals in his past 24 games. Mike Sillinger and Trent Hunter, who were such an effective combination last season, also have struggled with Sillinger netting one goal in his past 11 games and Hunter scoring only two goals in 29 games. Satan, too, is in one of his mini-slumps with no goals in his past seven.

Just 17 seconds after Calgary tied the game, Hunter's seventh goal of the season gave the Isles the lead back and 1:09 later Fedotenko sent a backhand pass from the right boards to the slot where Sillinger, who was wide open, snapped a wrister into the right corner of the net.

The lead was short-lived, though, as New York tied the contest with 2:05 left in the second as Marc-Andre Bergeron slapped a shot from the right point that Fedotenko tipped past Kiprusoff for his eighth goal of the season.

Calgary Sun: He took the Cup to his homeland in the Ukraine and to the spot in the U.S. where he met his wife, Debbie, in Sioux City, Iowa.
«I asked if I could do that. I'm the first Ukraine-born player who won the Cup, and I have family and friends in the U.S., too. I felt like it was tough for me just to pick one place," said the left-winger, who has never since matched the level of play he displayed during the championship run.
«I think one time was eight hours and the other time was 12.»
It's a far cry from Commodore's countless clockings with the Cup, but Fedotenko had an entire nation witness his revelry from Kiev.
Smack in the centre of Ukraine, Fedotenko was surrounded by thousands of his countrymen as the jubilation hit the airwaves.
«That was incredible," he recalled. «They had a huge party in the centre of town —- a concert and all that stuff. They broadcasted it throughout the Ukraine, live.
«It was an amazing day.»

Newsday: In the final minutes of regulation, Islanders forward Ruslan Fedotenko was cross-checked in front by Commodore without drawing a whistle from an officiating crew that awarded each team only one power play in regulation. That non-call was magnified when Islanders defenseman Andy Sutton was called for cross-checking Rod Brind'Amour 37 seconds into overtime. Just 15 seconds later, Stillman deflected a pass from Eric Staal past DiPietro for the game-winner.
«I think it's a matter of breaks," Islanders coach Ted Nolan said. «They get an overtime power-play goal. If you get cross-checked, there's no call. You touch one of their guys, he dives and it gets called. Those type of things you have no control over. There was a missed call on Fedotenko, and Sutton touches one of their players in front [and gets penalized], especially in OT.»
